Wanted: Volunteer Walk Leaders for Alton Wellbeing Walks

Every Tuesday, Alton Wellbeing Walks brings together 40–50 people for two gentle group walks – usually a 3-miler and a 2-miler – offering a regular dose of exercise, fresh air and friendly company. It's one of Walk Alton's best-loved fixtures, and it's kept going week after week by a small, dedicated team who organise, lead and back-mark both walks.

That team would now love some extra hands on deck, so they can keep offering two walks every week without it all resting on the same few shoulders.

Unlike many walking groups, Wellbeing Walks can't simply recruit new leaders by inviting regular walkers to step up through back-marking and co-leading – the nature of the group makes that harder here. So instead, they're reaching out to the wider Alton walking community for volunteers.

The ask is small: even one or two led walks a year would make a real difference. New leaders complete a half-day, face-to-face training session run by the District Council – a handy refresher on what to do if something unexpected crops up on a walk.
