News from the Walk Alton committee

We want to extend a huge thank you to Ian Fleming and Clare Allen, who are stepping down from the committee. Their energy, creativity, and dedication have been a driving force behind so many wonderful changes — from reshaping our aims and objectives and developing a clear strategy, to increasing our involvement in the Alton Walking Festival and helping grow our community with more groups, more walks, and a shiny new website.

We wish them both a fond farewell — especially Clare, who is leaving Alton and will be sorely missed across all her many committees! Ian will continue leading walks and a new steering committee for the Five to Ten walking group, though we’ll do our best not to rope him into anything else as he desperately tries to take a step back (good luck with that, Ian!).

It’s worth reminding ourselves that people like Clare and Ian are one of the reasons this town is so special. Volunteers like them make our community what it is.

Caroline Miller will be taking over from Clare as Chair, having joined the Committee last year. She’s already proven to be a fantastic leader as project manager of the new website, and we look forward to her guiding Walk Alton through its next chapter with continued enthusiasm and fresh ideas.
